The world of work has changed dramatically over the past decade with team leads, managers and supervisors facing complex challenges resulting from ongoing changes to the work environment. The 21st-century manage/team lead needs to be responsive, flexible, connected, and informed so that they can align their leadership approach with best practices in their profession. This professional skills workshop is designed to enhance performance and support the ongoing professional development of new managers and team leads. This workshop will introduce a range of advanced communication tools/frameworks that will enable the 21st century manager to maximise resources, support teams/direct reports and achieve performance objectives using excellent and refined communication skills.

What You’ll Learn

  • Explore and fine-tune communication skills to enhance the daily interactions and information sharing with employees at all levels
  • Practice the use of conversational intelligence in daily communications and appreciate the value of level-setting your conversations at work
  • Combat the effects of ‘disruption’ and increase employee ‘buy-in’ by listening intently to what they have to say and openly demonstrate that you are listening
  • Explore how small shifts will promote psychological safety in your workplace and will enhance company culture, employee’s sense of purpose, two-way communication, team morale, and belonging.
  • Examine a range of communication tools/frameworks and understand the impact of positive communication on staff performance & wellbeing
  • Apply the concept of situational leadership in the context of their current role
  • Practice effective delegation and boundary management skills to maximize employee performance and ensure accountability for agreed actions
  • Consider the most effective methods of communicating with challenging groups and individuals
  • Reframe your approach to conflict – explore the benefits of productive conflict and manage unproductive conflict effectively.
