The two film seasons screening at Triskel Cinema in February have something for everyone. The Eighties Sci-Fi Classics season showcases the most exciting and groundbreaking science fiction motion pictures of all time while the Eastwood/Siegel season features five films that range from urban crime thrillers, westerns, prison dramas and gothic horror.
Chris O’Neill, Head of Cinema at Triskel, said, “When director Don Siegel and actor Clint Eastwood first met, Siegel was known for his unpretentious yet taut and punchy style, while Eastwood was just coming off the success of the Segio Leone ‘spaghetti westerns’. Beginning with Coogan’s Bluff in 1968 and ending with Escape from Alcatraz in 1979, they collaborated on five pictures in total and we’re looking forward to showing them in February.” Two Mules for Sister Sara, The Beguiled and Dirty Harry form the middle of this season.
He continued, “For the Eighties season, we picked these particular sci-fi classics because they were made to be experienced on the big screen. They enthralled audiences and critics upon their original cinema release, and continue to do so all these years later.” This season starts with Escape from New York and continues with Blade Runner, Robocop and Predator.
