Overview

Copilot Practical Skills: Excel is a hands‑on session that shows participants how to use Copilot in Excel to clean data, analyse information, and create formulas, visuals, and pivots using plain‑language prompts. Participants will understand when to use Chat vs App Skills mode and gain an introduction to Agent mode, with a strong focus on practical, responsible use in everyday Excel work.

Prerequisites

To attend this training, you will need to have the licensed (paid) version of Copilot.

COPILOT: YOUR AI-POWERED ASSISTANT IN EXCEL

• Where Copilot can be found in Excel
• The various Copilot modes available in Excel
• Ensure Excel data is structured so Copilot can work effectively.
• Cleaning Data with Copilot
• Data Analysis: Choose the right Copilot mode for the task:
  ▪Chat Mode: analyses data, explains formulas, suggests insights.
  ▪Apps Mode: makes actual workbook changes—adds columns, formulas, charts, and sheets based on instructions.
• Ask questions of the data to query and gain insights
• Write and improve formulas with the aid of Copilot
• Improve the layout and format of your spreadsheets
• Use Copilot to provide appropriate summaries of your data
• Generate charts, pivot tables and analyse your data more effectively

EXCEL AGENT MODE

• Use Agent mode for higher-level, multi-step outputs.
• Outline of what excel agent mode can do
• Natural Language Interaction: Users can interact with spreadsheets using natural language to perform a wide range of tasks.
• Multi-Step Task Execution: Agent Mode can plan, execute, and verify multi-step tasks directly in the workbook.
• Data Manipulation: It can add, rename, delete sheets, insert and modify cell values, and apply various formatting options.
• Visual Artifacts Creation: Users can create structured tables, manage workbook layout, and generate visualizations.
• Data Analysis: It can analyse both structured and unstructured data across multiple sheets.

This module is CPD Accredited and 1.5 CPD hours can be awarded to each attendee of the live session.
