Cork St. Patrick's Day Parade to Be Streamed Live Online on www.corkstpatricksfestival.ie

Opportunity to send a greeting to loved ones abroad

The 2014 St. Patrick's Day Parade, the highlight of a 3 day family festival, will be streamed live online to a local and international audience on Monday March 17th on www.corkstpatricksfestival.ie . This is a great opportunity for those unable to make it into the city centre to join the celebrations, and it will also further strengthen Cork’s position as a tourism destination as the Irish diaspora tune-in in their droves from across the globe.
Last year, over 30,000 people watched the parade online from all around the world, with viewers from the USA, Australia, Canada, France and the UK.

A particularly heart-warming feature that has been a huge success in previous years is the ability to do greetings to friends and family at home or abroad that will be aired during the live stream. So if you wish to say hello and put an extra smile on their someone’s face on St. Patrick's Day, email your message to at parade@corkcity.ie or text only to +353 (0) 86 0401994.

The live stream will start at 12.30pm (Irish time) on the day with the parade itself commencing at 1pm. Before the parade begins, which will be led by this year’s Grand Marshall Michael Flatley, those tuning in can expect a variety of content including interviews with some well known Cork personalities, including The Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Catherine Clancy, Jimmy Barry Murphy, Cork City FC and more. The parade will be shot from a location on Grand Parade allowing great views of individual floats, street performers and community groups participating, and will have a truly international feel. Those in the US should keep an eye out for the Massachusetts Marching Band while Lithuanians will enjoy the Lithuanian Community of Cork’s involvement, Africans might tune in for the Nigerian Community Cork performance and Filipinos might watch out for the United Filipino Association march. And there will be oodles of Irish talent from all over the country.

The Cork St. Patrick’s Festival is organised by Cork City Council and proudly supported by Cork Airport and Barry’s Tea who have been long-term sponsors of the city centre highlight.
