EMPLOYERS EVENT TO HIGHLIGHT RECENT CHANGES IN LEGISLATION

Two leading firms in Munster, Westboro Partners and Fitzgerald Solicitors, have come together to host the Essential Employer Survival Guide on Thursday, 13 March 2014 in Cork.

Topics to be covered will include recent legislative changes in relation to employment, recruitment and redundancy, disciplinary issues, payroll, taxation and Revenue audits. These important topics will be discussed by experts from both finance and legal backgrounds, and will include ‘real life’ case study examples.

“This event will outline both legal and finance essentials with best practice guidelines for effective HR management for your business. It will provide succinct information on the main employment matters which concern or should concern employers, of both large and small companies”, said Michael Magee, Partner at Westboro Partners. Sinead McNamara, Partner in the Commercial Department of FitzGerald Solicitors said, “Now more than ever, employers need to be up to speed on the legal obligations they have to their employees. We will effectively take attendees on a whistle stop tour through the issues facing employers today, with a focus on positivity and growth in the economy. We will consider the employment law context around hiring, the pitfalls of engaging contractors, the advantages of a fixed term contract, the additional responsibility imposed on employers in a fixed term/specified contract relationship, the probationary period, and compliance for employers, along with a brief reminder of the nature of a redundancy situation.”

Registration and networking will commence at 5pm in the Clarion Hotel, Lapps Quay, Cork with the presentations starting at 5:30pm until 7pm. For more information, visit www.westboro.ie
