Bridging Borders is a one day conference designed to bring together regional clusters of companies, focussed on ICT and Digital Content technologies, from a number of European regions for the purposes of sharing best practices and promoting collaboration. The conference will be held on the 5th May in The Holiday Inn – Belfast. This event is organised by the Enterprise Europe Network in Northern Ireland, Invest NI, Enterprise Ireland and InterTrade Ireland.
.
Scope: The event will involve companies from France (Paris region), England (Midlands Region), Northern Ireland, and Southern Ireland.
Purpose: It is now generally accepted that encouraging regional clustering of companies and institutions focussed on specific technology and/or market sectors is a powerful solution to increasing productivity and improving competitiveness of the companies and the industry. Clusters are developing across Europe and their value has been established. Clusters are typically regionally focussed. However, there is increasing evidence that linking different regional clusters together, developing ‘clusters of clusters’ can provide substantial additional value. The purpose of the Bridging Borders conference is to bring together ICT and Digital Content clusters from the Paris Region, the Republic of Ireland, the West Midlands and Northern Ireland for the purposes of:
Encouraging the development of commercial and technology partnerships between companies from the different regions.
Identifying partners from different regions who wish to participate in European Union funded projects under programmes such as FP7 (European Funded R&D) and Eurostars.
Establishing best practice in the organisation and development of regional clusters
