The search is on for the best of business as Cork Chamber, in partnership with Vodafone Ireland, launches the Cork Company of the Year Awards 2016. Open to businesses across all sectors and sizes, the Awards represent the best of what the region has to offer in the categories of Large, SME, Emerging and this year a new category has been included to capture the ‘Excellence in Customer Engagement - Retail and Hospitality’.
Speaking at the launch Barrie O’Connell, President of Cork Chamber said; “We are delighted to once again be working with Vodafone Ireland whose strong partnership has helped us grow these awards, into the prestigious and aspirational position they now hold. Every day at the Chamber we witness and experience the great work that businesses throughout our region are undertaking to drive their companies forward. The awards are our way of showcasing those organisations that have demonstrated expertise in the areas of strategic vision, innovation, performance, employment levels and CSR.”
Last year’s overall winner Solarwinds embraced all that the awards had to offer in terms of internal staff motivation, delivering a strong local PR message and using the platform to grow the influence of the Cork base at company HQ. David Owens, Senior Vice President at Solarwinds commented, “We consider ourselves in good company when I look at the list of winners from previous years. We originally entered as a learning experience with the aim to ‘hone our pitch’, so to speak, over a three year period. When our name was called in front of 1,000 of our business peers the excitement was electric and we carried that through all our internal communications to demonstrate the value of the Cork team across our international offices. We estimate that being awarded ‘Cork Company of the Year’ delivered a value of €40K to €50K to our business through local PR, creative material and of course presence on the Annual Dinner stage. Do your business a real favour and enter today!”
Vodafone Ireland Head of Large Business, Leo O’Leary said “Recognising the achievements of businesses which are contributing to this region in terms of employment and growth is extremely important. Some of the businesses that are emerging in Cork will be the lifeblood of our future economic prosperity both in the region and nationally. As past winners have shown, they demonstrate the talent, diversity and passion that exists here. We would encourage all businesses to take the time to enter these awards so that they can share in all this event has to offer in terms of sharing information and learning from others associated with it.”
The four award categories are:
- Cork Large Company of the Year (more than 100 employees)
- Cork SME of the Year (less than 100 employees)
- Emerging Cork Company of the Year (less than 3 years in business)
- Special Award Category: Excellence in Customer Engagement (Retail/Hospitality)
