Action Plan - Key to Our Region's Growth

Cork Chamber today warmly welcomed the launch of the South West Region Action Plan for Jobs and called on Government to now ensure the necessary resources are allocated against the strategic actions in order to realise the significant untapped opportunities which exist within the region.
Speaking about the Report, Cork Chamber Chief Executive Conor Healy said, “Following an extensive consultation process which the Chamber has engaged thoroughly with, this report illuminates Cork’s many accomplishments across a vast range of sectors and highlights opportunities where strategic investments, enhanced partnerships and targeted progressive developments will ensure Cork and the wider South West Region are best positioned to capitalise on the unique assets that exist.”

“Cork Chamber is very pleased to see the acknowledgement that leadership by enterprise is essential to the success of clusters in sectors where the region has competitive advantage and reaffirm our view that industry is the most appropriate vehicle to lead such cluster development, in parallel to the government role in supporting and creating a conducive environment”.

He added, “The opportunity is ripe for the region to lead the way in driving economic development through creative governing and resourcing of innovative projects. However if we are to accrue the optimum benefits at this stage for our regional economy, a strong regional and collaborative partnership is required to ensure that these actions are fully implemented in a timely manner.”
