The Cork Summer Show Launches Pet Dog Show
The Cork Summer Show, Ireland’s longest running agricultural show, is calling on all pooches and pedigree owners to participate in this year’s Pet Dog Show. This year’s dog show is expected to attract more than 400 dogs and is open to all dog lovers who think their pet has what it takes to be a champion.
The 2015 Cork Summer Pet Dog Show has 9 categories open to pet and pedigree dogs and will take place on Saturday and Sunday 20 & 21 June at the Showgrounds in Curraheen, Cork.
“There is no doubt that Ireland is a nation of dog lovers, and this summer you can do it all with your dog at the Cork Summer Show. The Cork Summer Pet Dog Show is open to all breeds and judges will be looking for dogs that are fun, happy, talented and charming, so be sure to bring along your dog this year,” said Gerard Murphy, Chairman of the Munster Agriculture Society.
The competition categories include awards for best puppy (over 6 months and under 12 months), hound, working dog, gundog, terrier, Jack Russell and veteran dogs. One dog will take home the coveted ‘dog I would like to take home’ award each day of the show.
The Cork Summer Show supports animal welfare and works with many voluntary charities in the region to promote responsible pet ownership. This year Dogs Trust, Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity, will hold free workshops covering a variety of themes including responsible dog ownership and dog safety.
An entry fee of €2 will be charged per dog with all proceeds going to Marymount Hospital & Hospice, Cork.
“We would like to thank the Cork Summer Show for naming Marymount Hospital & Hospice as their chosen charity for this year’s Pet Dog Show. We are very grateful for the kind support which will go towards the ongoing fundraising efforts of The Friends of Marymount who need to raise €2.02 million each year to maintain the essential services provided," said Dan Cowman, Chairman, The Friends of Marymount.
Entries will be taken on the day from 12 noon and showings will begin at 2pm. For further information please see www.corksummershow.ie.
