CORK HOSTS GLOBAL SHANGHAI EDUCATION EXHIBITION

Major Opportunity for Irish Students to Meet Shanghai Universities and Schools

Students in Ireland can avail of a unique opportunity to meet with second and third level institutions from China when the Shanghai Education Exhibition takes place in City Hall Cork on 2nd June 2015.

The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission travels to locations around the world each year to promote studying and learning exchanges in China. This is the first time the exhibition has taken place in Ireland, and is largely thanks to the sister city agreement between Shanghai and Cork, as well as engagement with The UCC Confucius Institute.

“More than 25 universities and 8 secondary schools from Shanghai will be in Cork to meet with students, teachers and parents to discuss education opportunities in China,” said Mr. Yongbin Xia, Co-Director of The UCC Confucius Institute in Cork. “This is an incredible opportunity to learn about Chinese summer camps, immersion courses on Chinese language and culture, as well as study in Chinese secondary schools and universities as part of a transition year, undergraduate or postgraduate programme.”

The exhibition will run on Tuesday 2nd June in the Millennium Hall, Cork City Hall from 9:00am. The event is free to attend, and welcomes all persons interested in learning more about study programmes in China.

Cork City Council Director of Services, Pat Ledwidge said, “We are delighted to welcome this delegation of educators from Shanghai to Cork. This exhibition is further endorsement of the sister city partnership and will further strengthen links and collaboration with Shanghai and Cork.”

The Shanghai delegation will be led by Mr. Yang Weiren, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Division, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission which sponsors the event now in its 7th year.
