Curtis is new Chair of Cork Regional Chambers

At its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 13th September in Midleton, Cork Regional Chambers elected Mr. Brian Curtis as Chair for the coming year. Mr. Curtis is currently President of Cobh and Harbour Chamber.

Speaking after his election Mr. Curtis said, “I would like to thank outgoing Chair Donal Kelleher of Midleton Chamber and to the Chamber members for their nomination. I am looking forward to my term of office as Chair and to working with the other Chambers in the Cork region over the next twelve months. The Chamber movement is a powerful lobbying group and represents businesses in order to support their interests locally and nationally.”

Brian Curtis is Business Development Manager for PACIV Europe and is involved locally with the construction of Whitepoint marina in Cobh this is due to come on stream in early 2015. Mr. Curtis is also involved with Cork Waterbus which operates a guided tour of Cork Harbour daily. Mr. Curtis continued, “Cobh’s economic future will revolve around tourism; Cobh and harbour Chamber are working with local interest groups to develop maritime tourism within Cork harbour. Next year Cobh will commemorate the 100 anniversary of the Sinking of the RMS Lusitania in May 1915 by German Submarine U-20 off the Cork coast. I am looking forward to bringing the experiences I have had with Cobh and Harbour to the wider Chamber network through the Regional Chambers over the next twelve months.”

The Cork Regional Chambers consists of Cork, Cobh & Harbour, Charleville, Clonakilty, Kanturk, Mallow and Midleton & Area Chambers. Representatives from these Chambers meet regularly to discuss and move forward issues of common interest in the region.
