11th December 2013
O’Connor Pyne & Co. Donates over €30,000 to three worthy causes
A Christmas windfall of more than €30,000 will be donated to three Irish charities by the Munster accountancy firm, O’Connor Pyne & Co. Following their successful family fun day fundraising event, O’Connor Pyne & Co. will split the funds between The Grace Nolan Foundation, St. Joseph’s Foundation and the Donal Walsh Memorial Fund, Crumlin Hospital.
Partner Conor Pyne stated that the firm had celebrated 10 years in business in 2013, and was keen to give back to the community.
“We were delighted to celebrate our company milestone while raising money for these important charities. Special thanks to those who supported our Family Fun Day particularly the sponsors, and our ‘eliminator’ celebrities, Rachel Allen, Conor Counihan, Pat Spillane and many more, as well as our staff who worked incredibly hard to make the fundraiser such a great success for these 3 special charities”, said Conor Pyne, O’Connor Pyne & Co.
The Grace Nolan Foundation was established in 2003 by Michael and June Nolan when their daughter passed away from Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). Commenting on the donation, Derry Cronin, The Grace Nolan Foundation said, “Our charity serves to create awareness about HHT and to provide a platform for medical information, news and relevant events. HHT can be treated and managed if diagnosed in time and this donation will help to fund the National HHT screening and treatment centre at the Mercy Hospital, Cork”
Conor Counihan, St Joseph’s Foundation thanked the accountancy practice, which is based in Ballincollig, Cork saying, “These much needed funds will contribute directly to our proposed therapeutic centre and day hub which will benefit children and adults with autism. These facilities will allow for integration back into society through the provision of community living arrangements or integration into community groups such as art or walking groups and will serve to further enhance the lives of those affected”.
The Donal Walsh Memorial Fund will use the donated money for the provision of two cardiac vital signs monitors which will be used throughout Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. These portable devices measure the vital signs of patients for the observation and monitoring of a disease and for general patient condition management. “To achieve longevity in any business requires planning, hard work and a commitment to excellence at every step along the way.
O’Connor Pyne have marked their 10th year in business by doing something truly fantastic that showcased these skills and have chosen to support the 50 children who travel daily from Cork, Kerry and Waterford to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. These funds will have an immediate impact across the hospital for children and their families they will never know but this impact will be long- lasting not just locally but nationally too. We are truly thankful for what they have achieved for us with their fundraising ahead of a brand new year and a new set of challenges in 2014,” said Rachel Daly, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital.
