‘Outstanding Achievement in Business’ awarded to Mr. Leslie Buckley

Businessman Mr Leslie Buckley, was presented with an Outstanding Achievement in Business Award at Cork Chamber’s Dublin Dinner, in association with EY, at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel tonight.

Speaking from the event, Gillian Keating, President of Cork Chamber said ‘Over the past three years Cork Chamber has recognised and honoured key business leaders, including Sean O’Driscoll, Chief Executive and Chairman of the Glen Dimplex Group and Brian McCarthy, Executive Chairman of Fexco. This year we are delighted to include Leslie Buckley on the roll call, Leslie is one of Ireland’s leading business people, with a fantastic history of entrepreneurship, business consultancy and philanthropy.’
 

Highlights of Leslie Buckley’s career include helping to manage the start-up of Esat Telecom Group plc and Esat Digifone Limited. Working on key public and private sector projects, including companies such as Waterford Crystal, Irish Steel, Irish Rail and Aer Lingus. Leslie is currently the Executive Chairman of Saon Group, Vice Chairman of Digicel, Chairman of IN&M and a director and shareholder of a number of other Irish companies. In January 2009, Leslie established Haven, a charitable foundation dedicated to building and up-grading houses for the poorest of the poor.
 

Gillian Keating added, “Now in its third year Cork Chamber’s Dublin Dinner has gone from strength to strength and tonight we will play host to 500 guests from the businesses communities in Dublin and Cork. We are pleased to bring this unique event to the corporate calendar, as an occasion that promotes the strong connections that exist between Cork and Dublin and provide a unique opportunity for companies based across the two regions to network with their peers’
