“Logistics firm in line for national award”

Cork based logistics business O’Connell Group have been short listed for the SFA National Small Business Awards 2011. They are one of six Irish companies in the Services Category.
“This award is testimony to all the hard work of our employees and in particular our management team. Allied to our shortlisting for the 2010 SFA National Small Business Awards, this demonstrates that all the good work is being recognising externally” said Group Managing Director Eddie O’Connell who was speaking after the announcement.
With over 746,000 square feet of warehousing, a large fleet of trucks and trailers coupled with extensive container handling facilities and a pallet manufacturing division, O’Connell Group is well positioned to grow and thrive even in these uncertain times. Director Bosco Creed said “This award is extra special because it represents recognition in the highly competitive services sector”.
General Manager Paddy O’Sullivan said “This award is a great follow up to our shortlisting in the Environmental Sustainability category of last year; in fact we are even more delighted as it ties in with us having completed over 30 years in business”
The awards will be presented by Awards Patron, An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, TD, to all category winners and the Overall Winner at a Gala Event on March 3rd 2011.
O’Connell Group can trace it roots back to the early 1970’s when the present Managing Director Eddie O’Connell purchased just one truck. Now the business has grown through all its companies to 21 trucks, 171 trailers, 45+ employees and 746,000 square feet of warehousing.
