4th November 2010
The appointment of one of Ireland’s high profile business leaders is a further step in the continual development of it@cork, which is based in NSC Mahon, Cork.
Collins brings a wealth of global management experience at the highest levels in the ICT Industry to the board of it@cork.
“When I came to Cork from New York, I knew that IBM had a four decade-long presence in the Region. During my time here, we’ve continued to invest in Cork, including a state-of-the-art Business Continuity facility in Blackpool Business Park, which is already a key contributor to strategic IBM initiatives such as Cloud Computing and Smarter Planet, and also our acquisition in 2007 of Vallent, a Cork-based software company which has subsequently been integrated in IBM Software Group’s Unit in Tivoli, Cork. it@cork has been pivotal in helping me see how a multinational corporation and the local community truly can work together. I lead a global strategy team, and the relationships I’ve made through it@cork have delivered benefits for our business throughout Ireland. I now look forward to working with the it@cork Board, in steering the organisation, the IT industry and Ireland included into a new growth phase. I am excited at the prospect of working with such a progressive and innovative team, and will bring the full extent of my industry knowledge, network and experience to the table”, explains Collins.
