Cork Chamber Signs Business Partnership in Hangzhou

Cork Chamber President Ger O’Mahoney today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of Cork Chamber with the Hangzhou Chamber of Commerce. Hangzhou is the capital city of Zhejiang, one of China’s most developed provinces. It is also the 2nd largest city of the Yangtze River Delta and a popular tourist destination located two hours from Shanghai city.

Speaking at the signing ceremony Mr O’Mahoney said, “This agreement reflects our commitment to strengthening commercial ties between our two cities. Sharing information and opening up trade development and investment opportunities will create valuable alliances for Cork companies interested in developing new business ventures here”.

The agreement was signed at the end of a week-long Business Mission to Shanghai and Hangzhou to promote Cork and further strengthen existing relationships in China during which the Chamber delegation met with representatives of key business organisations in both cities such as the Shanghai Chamber of International Commerce, the Shanghai Federation of Industry & Commerce and the Enterprise Europe Network China as well as engaging with Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Bord Bia and Tourism Ireland officials.
