6th September 2010
This month CIT launches a new MBS Stream in Innovation & Enterprise to complement the existing part-time MBS Streams of Accounting, MIS and Marketing. This new part-time MBS in Innovation & Enterprise is designed to meet the needs of our changing economy and is especially relevant to government policy on the SMART economy.
The MBS in Innovation & Enterprise will provide students with a clear understanding of the importance of innovation, processes involved in innovation and technology transfer and the creative process at company level. It will help students to develop a more creative approach themselves and allow them to sustain a creative climate in their own organizations and in new start up situations. This innovative and interdisciplinary course will give students an excellent grasp of the principles underlying creative thinking and problem-solving and help them to promote imaginative, flexible and practical thought and action. They will learn about organisational restructuring and renewal strategies; how to develop partnerships across organisational boundaries; and how to involve people and share knowledge. Students will discover tools and techniques for developing ideas, managing innovation, and transforming organisations.
Students of this MBS are particularly fortunate as the course has the benefit of being closely linked to Cork Institute of Technology's on-campus Innovation and Incubation Centre, the Rubicon www.rubiconcentre.ie .The Rubicon hosts the largest concentration of start ups in Ireland and is home to over forty early stage and developing companies all of which are innovative and knowledge intensive.
