Buy Local – Supporting Small Business

New Initiative aims to encourage a vibrant local economy in Cork City

TaxAssist Accountants, Ireland and the UK's leading accountancy and taxation service for small businesses, are championing a Buy Local campaign to encourage consumers and local businesses in Cork to come together and support each other during the economic downturn.

Local accountant, Clive Aherne, explains "Supporting local businesses is something practical that everyone can do to make a small positive difference to the economic climate and now, more than ever, local businesses also need to support each other by trading locally. All of the small businesses we have spoken to are really pleased to support the campaign which is very encouraging."
Over the last few weeks, TaxAssist Accountants has been supplying local independent businesses with window stickers to spread the message to the general public. As well as this, Clive is setting up a Buy Local Cork Facebook page to discuss the initiative and get ideas from local businesses.

The campaign was officially launched by the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor John Kelleher, on the 1st of September, 2010 at TaxAssist's office on Washington Street West. The Deputy Lord Mayor commented that "it is very encouraging that the Buy Local Campaign is helping to invigorate Cork inner city, a prime objective of the local council".

TaxAssist Accountants aims to support small businesses in these difficult times by offering a proactive service that represents real value for money.

To improve cash flow - often a major cause of difficulty for small businesses - TaxAssist Accountants agrees fixed fees in advance, so there are no nasty surprises or unexpected bills.
