Enterprise Europe Network
About the Ambassador Network for Female Entrepreneurship
In December last, the Enterprise Europe Network launched a network of Ambassadors for Female Entrepreneurship in Ireland, as part of a European project to encourage more women to consider self-employment as a career option. Our 10 Irish Ambassadors are part of a European network of some 150 across Europe. Three Chambers of Commerce - Cork, Dublin and Galway have initiated the network in Ireland.
The idea behind the network is to facilitate women entrepreneurs to meet with, speak with, and share their real-life experiences with other women considering starting their own business. For this first project, we are focusing on women who are students and/or unemployed as our initial target groups. We have held a small discussion session in Fás to date with a number of women who are considering starting their own business. The feedback from the session was great, so we are likely to run a few more of these hands-on type sessions.
In our Irish 'panel' of Ambassadors we have a good mix of sector representation as well as scale of business. Our Cork Ambassadors are:
- Jola Wojtowicz, Jola's Restaurant
- Mary O'Riordan, Perfect Curtains
- Chris Winning, Corporate Care Relocation Ltd.
